Why I support Trump

For a traditional, or conservative Republican (ME), Donald Trump’s presidency and political platform delivered major policy wins that aligned closely with long-held party goals.

20 key aspects of Donald Trump and his policies that I approve of include:

1. Transformational Judicial Appointments

For decades, conservative Republicans made reshaping the federal judiciary a top priority. Trump delivered by appointing hundreds of federal judges, including three conservative Supreme Court Justices (Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett). This solidified a conservative majority that led to landmark decisions, most notably the overturning of Roe v. Wade, returning abortion regulations to the states.

2. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017

Passed in late 2017, this was the most sweeping overhaul of the U.S. tax code in decades. Republicans praised it for significantly lowering the corporate tax rate (from 35% to 21%), doubling the standard deduction, and cutting individual income tax brackets. Supporters credit the law with fueling pre-pandemic economic growth and boosting business investment.

3. Aggressive Federal Deregulation

True to conservative small-government principles, the Trump administration made deregulation a hallmark of its agenda. For every new federal regulation introduced, the administration aimed to cut multiple existing ones, particularly targeting bureaucratic red tape in environmental oversight, financial services, and labor that they argued stifled business growth and job creation.

4. Energy Independence and Fossil Fuel Production

Embracing the "drill, baby, drill" philosophy, Trump rolled back restrictions on oil and gas leasing on public lands, approved major pipeline projects (like the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines), and withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accord. These moves helped the U.S. achieve net energy independence for the first time in decades, lowering energy costs for consumers and manufacturers.

5. Strict Border Security and Hardline Immigration Enforcement

Immigration is a cornerstone issue for the Republican base. Republicans strongly support Trump’s focus on building a southern border wall, enforcing stricter asylum restrictions (such as the "Remain in Mexico" policy), and increasing funding and powers for ICE and Border Patrol to curb illegal immigration.

6. "America First" Trade Policies and Tariffs

Breaking away from decades of bipartisan consensus on free trade, Trump utilized aggressive tariffs—most notably against China—to protect domestic manufacturing industries. He also renegotiated NAFTA, replacing it with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which Republicans championed for securing stricter labor and manufacturing requirements for American workers.

7. Historic Middle East Diplomacy (The Abraham Accords)

In foreign policy, conservatives lauded the administration's unconventional approach, particularly in the Middle East. This included moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, withdrawing from the Iran Nuclear Deal, and brokering the Abraham Accords—normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab nations such as the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

8. The First Step Act of 2018

While criminal justice reform has traditionally been prioritized by Democrats, Trump successfully signed the First Step Act into law with overwhelming bipartisan support. Staunch conservatives and reform advocates alike praised the bill for reducing mandatory minimum sentences for certain nonviolent federal offenses, expanding rehabilitation programs in prisons, and correcting sentencing disparities.

9. Defense of Second Amendment Rights

Gun rights advocates consistently backed Trump for his staunch defense of the Second Amendment. Beyond his fiery rhetoric against federal gun control, his judicial appointments ensured that courts remained deeply protective of firearm ownership rights, shielding them from federal restrictions.

10. Direct, Anti-Establishment Combative Style

Beyond specific policies, a major draw for staunch Republicans is Trump’s willingness to aggressively challenge the political establishment, federal bureaucracies ("the deep state"), and mainstream media narratives. His unfiltered, counter-punching style is viewed by his base as a fearless defense of working-class Americans against coastal elites and institutional norms.

Since returning to office, the second term has leaned heavily into sweeping executive actions designed to fulfill long-held conservative goals—particularly around dismantling the federal bureaucracy, accelerating border enforcement, and pushing back against institutional "woke" policies.

Several key actions and policy shifts from the second term (2025–2026) consistently win high praise from the Republican base:

11. Aggressive Dismantling of the "Administrative State"

A crown jewel for conservatives in the second term has been the direct assault on the federal civil service. Through executive orders targeting bureaucratic accountability (such as reclassifying certain policy-influencing roles into excepted service tracks like "Schedule Policy/Career"), the administration has moved swiftly to downsize federal agencies, curb regulatory overreach, and fire underperforming or entrenched bureaucrats.

12. Intensified Border Control and Immigration Restrictions

Building on his first-term agenda, Trump’s second term has implemented hardline immigration policies right out of the gate. Key actions include executive orders challenging near-universal birthright citizenship, expanding interior enforcement and deportation frameworks (like Project Homecoming), and enforcing rigorous vetting and entry restrictions.

13. Unleashing Energy Dominance and Grid Security

The administration immediately declared a national energy emergency upon taking office, establishing the National Energy Dominance Council to fast-track oil and gas leasing, roll back Biden-era climate restrictions, and boost domestic fuel production. Additionally, actions targeting the security of the U.S. bulk-power system have focused on protecting the national grid from foreign threats.

14. Sweeping Bans on Federal DEI and Institutional "Wokeness"

Staunch conservatives celebrate the administration's aggressive crackdown on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Trump signed sweeping executive orders terminating all "illegal DEI" programs across federal agencies and federal contractors, restricting gender-affirming care policies, and protecting single-sex spaces based strictly on biological sex.

15. The "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA) Initiative

Rooted in an alliance with the broader populist-conservative health movement, the administration established the MAHA Commission to combat chronic illness, address ultra-processed foods and chemical additives, and re-evaluate federal public health and childhood vaccine guidelines to align closer with peer nations.

16. Restoration of Free Speech and Ending Federal Censorship

Conservatives strongly back executive actions aimed at ending federal "censorship-industrial complex" activities. These orders prohibit federal agencies from coordinating with social media platforms, universities, or private entities to suppress constitutionally protected speech or label dissenting viewpoints as misinformation.

17. Re-centering the Military on Merit and Readiness

In the defense sector, the administration moved quickly to reinstate service members discharged under military COVID-19 vaccine mandates, strip ideological equity frameworks from military recruitment and promotions, and prioritize combat readiness, lethality, and traditional military excellence.

18. Protectionist Trade Actions and De Minimis Overhauls

To protect domestic markets from foreign circumvention, the administration cracked down on international trade loopholes—most notably by suspending the duty-free de minimis treatment for imports from all countries to level the playing field for American retail and manufacturing industries.

19. Peace Through Strength

Trump is willing to use force to promote peace, but his primary weapon for that is negotiations, trade, and financial warfare. Making a deal that is mutually beneficial to all involved is far more preferable to dropping bombs. He has ended 8 wars during his presidency.

20. The return of American Pride

I love that being proud to be an American is not a thing to be ashamed of in my own country. Democrats love to shame America and focus on the wrong things that America does and has done. Instead, let's focus on the GOOD that this country has done! Why must we CONSTANTLY focus on the negative? It is infuriating.

Bonus:

Trump has also exposed widespread fraud. More of this please!!!!
