It’s a strange and bewildering thing to witness, the way some people have perfected the art of opposing an idea solely because of the person who proposed it. I am, of course, talking about the phenomenon of watching a certain political party (who shall remain nameless, but let's just say they are very, very concerned about the environment, except when it comes to their own private jets, which are made of 100% sustainably-sourced titanium and fueled by organic kale) oppose a perfectly sensible, common-sense idea, simply because it was uttered by a certain person they hate (who shall also remain nameless though I will tell you he is orange, loves red hats, and hates "fake news").
It's like something out of a bad dream, the kind where you're trying to explain to a group of grown-up children why they should not put their hand directly into a fire, but then they go ahead and do it, because they think you are a jerk, then when their hand gets burned they STILL blame you. (Holy cannoli!)
You see this all the time. The President of the United States, who is known for his… shall we say, “unconventional” approach to rhetoric, could stand up and announce: "I have determined that the sky is blue. We will now declare the sky to be blue."
And what would happen? The entire opposition party, bless their hearts, would immediately call an emergency press conference. "We cannot stand by," they would declare, "while this administration attempts to impose its extremist 'blue sky' agenda on the American people! We demand a full, bipartisan investigation into the possibility that the sky is, in fact, taupe, or possibly a muted mauve, as revealed by our most recent, totally un-scientific focus group!" Plus there would be a bunch of protests. Oh the protests. These idiots protest EVERYTHING.
They would then spend the next several weeks on cable news, passionately arguing that the sky is not, has never been, and never will be blue. They'd bring on a series of solemn-looking experts with charts and graphs, all of them explaining in excruciating detail how the concept of a "blue sky" is a dangerous form of misinformation, possibly a Russian plot.
And meanwhile, we, the regular people, would be standing outside, staring up at a perfectly blue sky and scratching our heads. "Am I crazy?" we'd ask our neighbors. "Is it just me, or does the sky look kind of… blue?"
"No, you're not crazy," they'd say, "but don't say that too loudly. They'll call you a 'sky denier.'"
This is what happens when you decide to oppose everything. You lose the ability to think. Your brain, which is a surprisingly lazy organ, just goes, "Oh, he said it? Okay, then it is 'bad.'" The reason is because they let other people think for them. It's a lot less work than actually evaluating a concept.
And the Democrats have perfected this. President Trump could announce a national initiative to reduce wait times at restaurants, and the lefties would immediately oppose it on the grounds that it violates the right of people to wait a long time to eat over-priced food in a noisy environment surrounded by noisy people. They'd argue that not allowing people to wait a long time for food is a form of oppression. Or even a violation of free speech. Or a threat to our democracy.
It's a wonder they're able to get anything done at all. One imagines a typical Senate meeting going like this:
DEMOCRAT SENATOR 1: "The president has just proposed that we pass a bill to prevent Congress from spontaneously soiling our pants during committee meetings. We obviously must oppose this completely."
DEMOCRAT SENATOR 2: "But why? Spontaneous human defecation is terrible. It's also against the laws of decency, so we shouldn't even need a bill..."
DEMOCRAT SENATOR 1: "Yes, but he said it. The red hat guy. So we are duty bound (no pun intended), to oppose it."
DEMOCRAT SENATOR 2: "Ah. Right. Got it. So we should propose an alternative bill that actively encourages spontaneous human defecation during committee meetings?"
DEMOCRAT SENATOR 1: "Of course. Also, let's organize a protest."
And that, my friends, is why we can never have nice things. Because in the end, when you oppose the messenger then everything the messenger says, even if it true or good, you must oppose (even common sense itself). And there is nothing more terrifying than a politician who has declared war on common sense.
Here are some real examples now.
Trump says men should not be allowed to play in women's sports. The left gets all enflamed and outraged saying it's "anti-Trans". Anti-Trans? No. It's anti-Stupidity. So-called "Trans women" are still men. They have XY chromosomes, create testosterone, have to shave a lot, have more muscles, are bigger, taller, faster, stronger... they are men who "identify as" (in other words, "think they are") women. But they are NOT WOMEN. Women have XX chromosomes. Think of it like this... if I have a car, a sedan, but I tell everyone it's actually a moving truck, am I able to haul couches with it now? No. Why? Because it is still a car, regardless of what I call it.
Trump says Washington DC has a crime problem. So he offers to use the national guard to help restore law and order to the crime ridden streets of DC. The left gets all enflamed and outraged claiming Trump is taking over the city and trying to be a dictator. Really? One lady in Chicago (another crime-infested wasteland), who had gotten car-jacked (and badly injured), actually said she actually would prefer being car-jacked than have Trump send troops to her city. Really??
Trump says we must secure the border (which he did). Then he said we will deport the "worst first". In other words all the murderers, rapists, and druggies that the Biden administration let in en masse. The left gets all enflamed and outraged claiming that Trump is sending people out without "due process". They whine that Trump is targeting minorities. They wine that their neighbors are being deported. Remember, these are CRIMINALS! So, are criminals now a minority in the minds of crazy leftists? Even Obama deported MILLIONS of illegals during his 8 years with no protestations by the left. Why? Because Trump, TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome), "Orange man bad"... That's it. The media says it, so it MUST be true.
By the way, do you remember all the protests by Republicans and people on the right during the 8 years of Obama, and the 4 years of Biden? No? Because there weren't any. But the democrats protest EVERYTHING!
Literally anything he says they oppose. Simply because he said it.
